Pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide have been using Dowtherm, Dowcal and Syltherm products for multi step precision manufacturing processes, especially in batch processing operations. Contract manufacturers find tremendous value in these products since a single product can be used within a wide operating range, thus avoiding the need for new fluid fills for different jobs involving heating and cooling.

The Syltherm range of silicone fluids essentially are odourless, non-toxic (very low in acute oral toxicity) and are not listed as reportable under SARA Title III, Section 313.

Dowtherm J can be used in the liquid phase between -80°C and 315°C and in the vapour phase between 181°C and 315°C. Using Dowtherm J in system requiring both heating and cooling can simplify the system design by eliminating the need for multiple fluids while minimizing operational problems.

Dowcal 100 is a speciality inhibited ethylene glycol with an operating range of -50°C to 170°C which protects most MOCs against corrosion. Since these product are supplied in concentrated form, you will need to procure only a fraction of your system volume and dilute with water at site, instead of having to procure 100% of your system volume for pre-diluted glycols.

Dowcal 200 / Dowcal N are speciality inhibited propylene glycols with an operating range of -45°C to 120°C. The inhibitors in these products protect most MOCs against corrosion. Since these product are supplied in concentrated form, you will need to procure only a fraction of your system volume and dilute with water at site, instead of having to procure 100% of your system volume for pre-diluted glycols.

Dowcal N is FDA approved and conforms to FDA CFR 21 and NSF guidelines and is acceptable for use as a heat transfer fluid where there is possibility of incidental food contact.

Syltherm 800 is a highly stable, long lasting silicone fluid with a recommended operating temperature range of -40°C to 400°C, the broadest range of any heat transfer fluid. This product can often remain in service for 10 years or more, even when operated at the upper end of its recommended operating range.

Syltherm XLT has an operating range of -100°C to 260°C, which makes it especially well suited for single fluid process heating and cooling systems. This product is the preferred product for cryogenic cooling requirements of lyophilisation processes.

Syltherm HF is a specially formulated silicone polymer designed for use as a low temperature, liquid phase heat transfer fluid. With the same operating range of -100°C to 260°C as Syltherm XLT, this product offers a closed cup flash point of 63°C.
