Dow Chemical Cautious on Europe, CEO Says

The head of Dow Chemical Co. said Thursday that it's carefully managing its European business to avoid being caught short of capacity when the region does emerge from its economic slump.

The world's second-largest chemical company generates a third of its sales in Europe, and like rivals has been consolidating its operations and trimming jobs because of weak demand.
